<abstract>Herbert Wood OBE FIEAust was a radio engineer who took a leading role in research and development of aircraft radio communication and navigation in Australia before the Second World War. He later was Chief Engineer and Technical Director, S.T.C. Ltd in Australia, Vice-President and Area Technical Director I.T.T. Far East &amp; Pacific Inc. in Hong Kong, then Managing Director, I.T.T. Far East &amp; Pacific Inc. in Malaysia.

He was appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 1945 in recognition of his role during the war in the south-west Pacific.</abstract>
