<abstract>Joseph Brearley BSc BE MIEE AssocMInstCE MIEAust, was Chief engineer, Director, then Managing Director of Noyes Bros (Melb) Pty Ltd. between 1905 and 1933. He was Assistant Electrical Engineer, New South Wales Railways and Tramways between 1896 and 1903 and supervised all the works related to converting the Sydney tramway system to electric traction.</abstract>
