<abstract>Charles Walter collected specimens for Sir Ferdinand von Mueller from various parts of Victoria. Walter worked for the Technological Museum, Public Library of Victoria on economic products including grasses, seeds and timbers. He did similar work for the Victorian Department of Agriculture. The National Herbarium of Victoria holds over 230 Walter specimens. <span style="font-style:italic">Prostanthera Walteri</span> F.v.M., was named after him.</abstract>
