<biogHist>
<abstract>Philip Ladds was Associate Professor at the Graduate School of Veterinary Science, James Cook University, Townsville, Queensland from 1983 to 1998. His research focussed on the eradication of bovine pleuropneumonia in Australia, and the reproductive pathology and diseases of Australian wildlife, particularly crocodiles and marine animals. Included in his publications were the seminal books <span style="font-style:italic">Pathology of domestic animals</span> ( 1985, 3rd edition 2007) and <span style="font-style:italic">Pathology of Australian wildlife</span> (2009). Ladds was a Life Member of the Australian Society of Veterinary Pathology, the Australian Veterinary Association and the Wildlife Disease Association of Australasia, and a Fellow of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Science.</abstract>
