His research focussed on the eradication of bovine pleuropneumonia in Australia, and the reproductive pathology and diseases of Australian wildlife, particularly crocodiles and marine animals. Included in his publications were the seminal books Pathology of domestic animals ( 1985, 3rd edition 2007) and Pathology of Australian wildlife (2009).
