<abstract>Ernest Love was appointed as an assistant lecturer and demonstrator in natural philosophy at the University of Melbourne (1888) and he taught at the university until his retirement in 1929. He was active in scientific societies including the Royal Society of Victoria, the Victorian Branch of the British Astronomical Association, the Australasian Association for the Advancement of Science, and the Australian National Research Council.</abstract>
