<abstract>Alexander Marks was a medical practitioner in Brisbane and held various positions, including senior gynaecologist, at the Brisbane General Hospital from 1919 to 1930. Marks helped save hundreds of lives during World War I where he served as commander and Medical Officer for many military divisions. During the Second World War, he acted as Chair and Queensland Controller of the Voluntary Aid Detachment. Marks was awarded many honours for his war time service including an appointment as a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE).</abstract>
