Herbert Moran was a surgeon and the father of Patrick Alfred Pierce Moran. For much of his career he was associated with leading hospitals in Sydney. His principal interest was in the treatment of cancer and he was noted for his experimental application of radium and radiation therapy for cancer treatment. Moran was also a prolific writer on the subject, both for the medical profession and for the general public.
