Voisey's research centred on understanding New England geology, most papers containing fundamental original results based on exemplary field mapping. His work contributed significantly to studies of tectonic development of New England. He is commemorated by the A.H. Voisey Club, a graduate club of the University of New England's Geology Department, and by the A.H. Voisey Medal of the New South Wales division of the Geological Society of Australia.
