<abstract>Phoebe Chapple graduated from the University of Adelaide in 1904 and practised in Adelaide until she was 85. She distinguished herself during World War I and was awarded the Military Medal. Later she specialised in obstetrics and the veneral diseases of women. Chapple endowed a bursary for St Ann's College, University of Adelaide, which is administered in her name.</abstract>
