<abstract>Theodore Ambrose went into general practice in Perth in 1906 and worked as a physician and surgeon at the Perth Public Hospital and the Children's Hospital. From about 1915 he devoted his energies to specialist surgery and became one of Perth's leading surgeons. His operating skill was enhanced by ambidexterity. Ambrose was a Foundation Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.</abstract>
