<abstract>Jules Verreaux amassed a large collection of Australian natural history specimens during the 1840s. He was sent to Australia by the Museum of Natural History in Paris and spent around seven years travelling extensively around Australia collecting specimens. He returned with the collection to his native Paris around 1851. His collecting include Tasmanian First Peoples' remains.</abstract>
