<biogHist>
<abstract>James Rogers was a physicist whose research focused on radioactive emissions, and who did ground-breaking work on photographic measurement techniques for gamma rays. He was a senior lecturer in Natural Philosophy, University of Melbourne from 1924 to 1946, and for 14 years from 1950 was Dean of Graduate Studies. Among his publications was <span style="font-style:italic">Physics for medical students</span> (1932), later published in several editions. During WWII Rogers was Secretary of the Optical Munitions Panel from 1941to 1946 and wrote a history of the Panel.</abstract>
