Among his many publications were the books The composition and petrology of the Earth's mantle (1975) and The origin of the Earth and Moon (1979). Ringwood held chairs in Geophysics and Geochemistry at the Research School of Earth Sciences at the Australian National University, becoming the School's Director in 1978. The A. E.
