Ernest Kendall, son of W.T. Kendall (qv), taught at both the Melbourne Veterinary College and the University of Melbourne Veterinary School. He later became Chief Veterinary Officer in the Victorian Department of Agriculture. In 1934, having served as chairman of a special Government commission, Kendall was appointed Chairman of the Milk Board, responsible for the testing, regulation and control of Melbourne's milk supply. As an officer in the Australian Army Veterinary Corps he served in both the Boer War and WWI. He established the Australia Veterinary Hospital near Calais, France, in 1917: it was closed in 1919.
