<abstract>Kendall Broadbent, described as a 'thorough field naturalist and a most discerning zoological collector', collected in every Australian state. He worked for the Queensland Museum 1880-1900 collecting fossils, animals and anthropological material. In 1891 the plant <span style="font-style:italic">Melicope broadbentiana</span> was named after him.</abstract>
<p>Born Horsforth, near Leeds, Yorkshire, England, 26 August 1837. Died Brisbane, 16 January 1911. Arrived Victoria 1852; contracting work with his father; survived the wreck of the "Maria" 1872; collector for Count de Castenau Cape York and Gulf of Carpentaria 1873; collected around Port Moresby for British Museum 1875; collected for E.P. Ramsay (q.v.) of the Australian Museum 1877-79; collected for the Queensland Museum 1880-1893; attendant in the museum 1893-1900. Collected the type specimen of the Rufous Bristlebird 1858 and it was named "Dasyornis broadbenti" after him.</p>
