The Pearcey Foundation Inc. was established in 1998 to raise the profile of the Australian Information technology and Telecommunications Industry and profession. It is named after one of the greatest pioneers of the Australian IT&T industry, Dr. Trevor Pearcey. It operates in all Australian States offering State and National awards, seminars and meetings.

Since 2004, the Foundation has awarded the Pearcey Medal for Lifetime Achievement which recognises distinguished contributions to the development and growth of the information communications and technology industry in Australia. In addition individuals who have made significant lifetime contributions to information and communications technology research, industry or professional development in Australia may be inducted into the Hall of Fame. This annual award is made to the recipient of the Pearcey Medal for Lifetime Achievement and up to two other people. Awards are also made to celebrate entrepreneurial achievement in each State and nationally.
