<biogHist>
ASHET, the Australian Society for History of Engineering and Technology, is a non-profit society, incorporated in the state of New South Wales. It was established to encourage and promote community interest and education in the history of engineering and technology in Australia. It was conceived as a national society, with members throughout Australia, though in its beginnings a majority of the members were in Sydney, where the society was formed in 2003. ASHET is affiliated with the Royal Australian Historical Society. In late 2005 ASHET incorporated the activities of the Australian Science History Club.
<p>From January 2008 to January 2018, ASHET published a quarterly newsletter <span style="font-style:italic">'ASHET News'</span>, that contains many well researched papers. It also published many Sydney based "Self-guided Tour" brochures and, among other projects and activities, created indexes to NSW Patents 1854-1884.</p>
<p>In 2010, ASHET also played a key partnership role with the University of Sydney Library, in the scanning and digitisation of the <span style="font-style:italic">'Minutes of proceedings of the Engineering Association of New South Wales'</span>, and the <span style="font-style:italic">'Journal and abstract of proceedings of the Sydney University Engineering Society'.</span></p>
<p>Unfortunately in early 2020, ASHET went into recess.</p>
<p>Its website, including all newsletters and other electronic publications, has been archived at <citation xlink:type="simple" xlink:href="https://webarchive.nla.gov.au/awa/20220309184235/https://ashet.org.au/">Trove</citation> and at <citation xlink:type="simple" xlink:href="http://web.archive.org/web/20220309184235/https://ashet.org.au/">web.archive.org</citation></p>
