Its first meeting was held on 22 Aug 1889, with a paper presented by Wilfred Noyce Kernot, and the meeting chaired by Prof William Charles Kernot. It was closely related with the Melbourne University Engineering Society, and traditionally provided it with an Assistant Honorary Secretary. It produced a student club newsletter "Quo Vadis". The Students' Club usually participated in activities organised by the Melbourne University Engineerig Society, and traditionally provided it with an Assistant Honorary Secretary.
