<biogHist>
The Australian Society of Plant Scientists is an incorporated society that promotes plant sciences in Australia. Its predecessor, the Australian Society of Plant Physiologists, was founded in 1958. The Society promotes plant science in Australia and provides a professional contact for teachers and researchers in plant physiology. Eminent plant scientists are invited to present the biennial (in alternate years) lectureships named in honour of it first two Presidents: J. G. Wood and R. N. Robertson.
<p>The Society presents the following awards:<br />
Peter Goldacre Medal: recognises contributions in plant physiology by young researchers within ten years of completing their PhD;<br />
Jan Anderson Medal: available to female members of the Society within 15 years of completing their PhD.</p>
