The Society aimed to advance the science of plant physiology. At the end of the twentieth century, the Society was replaced by the Australian Society of Plant Scientists. The Society presented the Peter Goldacre Medal (from 1965) recognising contributions in plant physiology by young researchers within ten years of completing their PhD.
