Southern Hydro is Australia's largest privately owned hydroelectric company which has also moved into the bulk energy producing wind farm market. In 2003 Meridian Energy Australia purchased Southern Hydro but subsequently in 2005 sold it to AGL (Australian Gaslight Company).
