<abstract>The Cooperative Research Centre (CRC) for Cochlear Implant, Speech and Hearing Research was established in July 1992 and was replaced by the CRC for Cochlear Implant and Hearing Aid Innovation in July 1999. Research areas covered by the CRC included signal processing, speech science and psychophysics, electronics and communication engineering, clinical medicine, surgery, audiology, rehabilitation and computer modelling.</abstract>
