The Electronics and Surveillance Research Laboratory, of the Defence Science and Technology Organisation, was established in 1994, after a merger took place between the Electronics Research Laboratory and the Surveillance Research Laboratory. A restructure of the Defence Science and Technology Organisation in 2002 resulted in the closure of all existing research Laboratories for the creation of three new ones.
