The IAMRC was led by H.R. Phillpot, Commonwealth Bureau of Meteorology. The Centre was disbanded on the creation of the Commonwealth Meteorology Research Centre. 'In 1965 the Australian Government decided to set up a world centre of the World Weather Watch (WWW) in Melbourne. This relieved the IAAC of its analysis commitment, thereby enabling the research activity to be expanded.
