In 1855, after Russell Bros. was wound up, Peter was joined by two of his brothers and the partnership of P. N Russell and Company was established. This engineering and foundry business prospered for twenty years, but unresolved disputes with workers over pay forced the permanent closure of the engineering works in June 1875.
