In 1879 John Lysaght, owner of John Lysaght Ltd. decided to establish a Central Selling Agency in Australia to streamline distribution of his products - at that time Australia was one of his biggest customers. This was the start of Lysaght Bros & Co Pty Ltd in Australia which over the years expanded into manufacturing steel and wire products. In 1957 the company was taken over by BHP and eventually became known as BHP Coated Products.
