(Smorgan Consolidated Industries) Steel Ltd replaced Humes Ltd in 1990 when in 1988 a successful takeover offer was made, returning full ownership of the steel operations to the Smorgon family. Today the company is known as SCIS Pty Ltd or Smorgan Steel or Smorgon Steel Group Limited - Australia's largest vertically integrated producer of steel and the leading supplier of steel products in its key markets. In 2007 Smorgon Steel merged with OneSteel
