Various name and structural changes have followed, seeing the Division separating into the components of Fisheries and Oceanography, and rejoining to form CSIRO Marine Research in 1997. On 1 July 2005 CSIRO Marine Research and CSIRO Atmospheric Research merged to create CSIRO Marine and Atmospheric Research.
