Originally the Institute was part of the Victorian Department of Agriculture and was later part of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment. IHD is now part of Agriculture Victoria (AV), the Victorian government's research and development infrastructure for delivering scientific rigour and new technologies for the nation's food and agriculture industries.
