Summary

In 2008 the tourism functions of the Department of Tourism, Arts and the Environment (2006 - 2008) were moved to the Department of Economic Development (2002 - 2008) As a result the Department of Environment, Parks, Heritage and the Arts (2008 - 2009) was established. It was home to the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens (1828 - ), the Parks and Wildlife Service (1993 - ), the Port Artur Historic Site Management Authority (1987 - ) and the Environment Protection Authority (2008 - ). In 2009 the department was dissolved and its functions spread across the Department of Primary Industries, Parks, Water and Environment (2009 - ) and the Department of Economic Development, Tourism and the Arts (2009 - 2014).
