Summary

The Transactions and proceedings of the Victorian Institute for the Advancement of Science was published by the Institute to provide a place for the publication of papers relevant to its objects. Only one volume was published, which included articles on the public works and botany of Victoria. On the amalgamation of the Institute with the Philosophical Society of Victoria to form the Philosophical Institute of Victoria, the Transactions and proceedings was superseded by the Transactions of the Philosophical Institute of Victoria.
