Summary

In 1992 a number of South Australian Government Departments were dissolved and their functions amalgamated to form the Department for Primary Industries (1992 - 1997). These included the Department of Fisheries [II] (1979 - 1992), the Department of Agriculture [IV] (1979 - 1992), the Department of Lands (1930 - 1992), and the Department of Woods and Forests (1882 -1992). In 1997 the Department of Mines and Energy (1977 - 1997) was dissolved and its functions transferred into the Department for Primary Industries (1992 - 1997), as a result the Department for Primary Industries was renamed the Department for Primary Industries and Resources South Australia (1997 - 2011) or PIRSA [I] for short.
