Summary

In 1917 the Survey and Crown Lands Department (1836 - 1917) was dissolved and the Land and Survey Department was formed to take over its cadastral surveying functions and the sale and granting of crown land. In 1930 the Lands and Survey Department (1917 - 1930) merged with the Irrigation and Drainage Department (1930 - 1930) to form the Department of Lands (1930 - 1992).
