Summary

The Entomological Society of Victoria meets regularly, publishes a news bulletin The Victorian Entomologist, holds excursions, camps and lectures and maintains the ENTREC (ENTomological Records) database. The Entomological Society of Victoria supports and encourages armature entomologists through its sponsorship of the Science Talent Quest Bursary and its Zoo Le Souef Memorial award which is given each year to an amateur who has made a significant contribution to Australian entomology.

Details

The Entomological Society of Victoria was established in 1927 and has gone through multiple name changes. After a period of inactivity due to wartime from 1942 the Entomological Society of Victoria was reformed in 1961 with significant input from John Cecil Le Souef a prominent amateur entomologist.
