Summary
V. A. Wardell was Manager of Lysaght at Port Kembla. He recognised the possibilities of the Owen (qv) Gun and had Lysaght make a trial gun with modifications and eventually mass produce the final version of the gun. It remained in use as the standard sub-machine gun for the Australian Army from 1942 to 1966.
