John Moore was Head of the Department of Information Engineering at the Research School of Information Sciences and Engineering, Institute of Advanced Studies, Australian National University - a position he had held for over ten years. Moore had worked on many aspects of electrical and computer engineering and was also looking into mobile communications coding and semi-definite programming. John Moore had (co) written over two-hundred publications including six university text books and was a member of many of Australia's top scientific bodies.
