Summary
G. Allan Hancock was a philanthropist who financed technologies such as railways and television. Charles Kingsford-Smith awakened his interest in aviation. Hancock provided money for Kingsford-Smith and Charles Ulm to buy an ex-Hubert Wilkins Fokker Tri-Motor aeroplane from the United States in 1927. After re-engining this plane became the Southern Cross.
