Summary
John Percival S. Bach was an associate professor in history at the University of Newcastle 1968-1985. He wrote a number of books on maritime themes, including A Maritime History of Australia (1976).

Born 8 July 1923. OAM 1993. Educated Universities of Sydney (MA) and New South Wales (PhD). RAAF 1942-46, attaining rank of Flt Lt; Navigator, Qantas Empire Airways 1949-50; research assistant, New South Wales University of Technology 1952-54; Department of History, University of Newcastle 1954-85, associate professor of history 1968-85, Head of Department 1978-84. Honorary Associate, Museum of Applied Arts and Science since 1977. President, Australian Association for Maritime History 1978-83.
