Summary
Ralph Aubrey E. Holmes joined the Bureau of Meteorology in Perth in 1935 and served in the RAAF Meteorological Service during the Second World War. He established the meteorological unit at Allied Headquarters, advising General MacArthur on meteorological aspects of war strategy. He served the Bureau for 41 years, working in the Analysis Section and as a meteorologist in communications and facilities, and in operational services, retiring in 1976.
