Educated University of Adelaide (BSc (Hons)) and Monash University (PhD). Grandson of J.B. Cleland (q.v.). Professional ornithologist at the University of Adelaide. Co-edited The Dynamic Partnership: Birds and Plants in Southern Australia with H.A. Ford (q.v.) in 1986. Member of Birds Australia Council in the 1990s. President, South Australian Ornithological Association 1990-93.
