Henry John de S. (John) Disney came to Australia in 1962 as Curator of Ornithology, Australian Museum. Previously he had spent some years in Africa,
Educated University of Cambridge. Bird collecting, North Finland and Newfoundland; war service in RAF; Science Assistant to the Director, Kaffarian Museum, South Africa 1946-48; Cotton Research Station, East Africa 1948-53; applied biologist, East Africa 1953-62, studying the biology of various injurious birds and mammals; Curator of Ornithology, Australian Museum from 1962, Research Associate after retirement.
