Summary

Reginald Mackay was the Chief Electrical Engineer, and Senior Administrator (or Chief Assistant to the Commissioner) 1956-1966 of the Department of Railways, New South Wales. Apart from a brief period obtaining experience abroad, Mackay's whole professional life was with the Railway's Department, having commenced as an Assistant electrical engineer in 1929, soon after graduating. For most of his life he was also involved with the Institution of Engineers Australia: serving as Chairman of the Sydney Division, as a National Councillor, as Vice-President, and as President.
